Insulation: The Most Cost-Effective Energy Upgrade

If you could only do one thing to improve your home's energy efficiency, insulation should be it. It's the foundation everything else builds on — and it's often the cheapest measure with the biggest impact.

Why Insulation First?

There's no point heating a home that can't hold onto warmth. Insulation reduces heat loss, which means your heating system works less and your bills drop. It also makes renewable systems like heat pumps more effective.

Types of Insulation

Loft Insulation

The quickest and most affordable option. Typically completed in a few hours with minimal disruption. Can save up to £250 per year.

Cavity Wall Insulation

Fills the gap between your inner and outer walls. Suitable for most homes built after the 1920s. Usually completed in a day.

What About Ventilation?

Proper ventilation is essential when insulating. Without it, moisture can build up and cause damp. That's why we always carry out a ventilation review as part of any insulation project — it's a PAS 2035 requirement and a C&T Group standard.
