We are writing to confirm your upcoming property survey appointment. Your sales contact will have provided you with the specific date, time, and surveyor details.

Purpose of the Visit

The purpose of this visit is to assess your property and gather information regarding potential energy-efficiency improvements. The survey will help us understand the construction, condition and energy performance of your home and determine which improvements may be suitable.

The survey is non-obligatory and does not commit you to any future installation work.

What to Expect

During the visit, our surveyor may:

  • Inspect both the inside and outside of the property
  • Take measurements and photographs
  • Assess insulation levels where accessible
  • Review heating, hot water and ventilation systems
  • Inspect loft spaces, roof spaces and other accessible areas
  • Identify any factors that may affect future improvement works
  • Record information required for energy assessments and funding applications
  • Where required, undertake a cavity wall inspection using specialist equipment

Expected Duration

The survey typically takes between 60 and 120 minutes, depending on the property's size, age, and construction.

In some circumstances, additional time may be required to complete the assessment. Our surveyor will advise you if they anticipate the visit taking longer than expected.

Cavity Wall Inspection

Where appropriate, a cavity wall inspection may be required as part of the survey process. This inspection allows us to accurately assess the construction and condition of your external walls and determine whether any energy-efficiency improvements may be suitable for your property.

If required, our surveyor may:

  • Drill a small inspection hole in each external elevation of the property
  • Use a specialist camera (borescope) to inspect the cavity wall
  • Take photographs to support the survey findings
  • Fill and make good all inspection holes upon completion

The inspection holes are approximately the size of a 5 pence coin and are typically positioned in discreet locations wherever possible. This is a standard surveying technique used throughout the retrofit and energy efficiency industry and helps ensure that any recommendations are based on the actual construction of your property.

Preparing for the Visit

To help the survey run smoothly, please ensure:

  • An adult aged 18 or over is present throughout the appointment
  • All rooms are accessible where possible
  • Loft spaces, utility rooms, boilers and heating controls can be safely accessed
  • Areas around radiators are cleared so we can take full photographs of each radiator
  • Any pets are secured appropriately
  • Any requested documentation is available if applicable

Important Documentation

Depending on your application and funding route, we may require supporting documentation. This could include:

  • Proof of address
  • Photographic identification
  • Proof of property ownership or tenancy
  • Benefit evidence
  • Health-related evidence where applicable
  • Other documents requested by your sales advisor

Your sales advisor will inform you if any documentation is required before or after the survey.
